Journalists and Real Estate Editors from across the United States gathered in Las Vegas June 13th-16th for the Spring conference of the National Association of Real Estate Editors (NAREE), the trade group dedicated to promoting real estate industries reporting, both commercial and residential.
HomesUSA.com CEO, Ben Caballero, participated in the Home Building Forecast panel with Robert Dietz, Chief Economist at National Association of Home Builders and Jim Boyd, Regional President of Toll Brothers, Inc. – moderated by Devon Thorsby, Real Estate Editor with U.S. News & World Report.
Ben provided insight on several subjects including:
- If Houston and Dallas were states, Dallas would rank 7th and Houston 6th in 2017
- The housing crash was the worst on record according to the U.S. Census
- In the 9th year of the housing recovery, 1982 was the last year a housing start number was lower than 2017, present recovery excepted (see chart below)
